What you see here is how one of Leipzigs old department stores is deconstructed. It had a tin facade, which can you see being taken off and therefore was called "Blechbüchse". It was deconstructed last spring.
Six-week printmaking masterclass commences Saturday February 18, 2012. Artists with some experience in printmaking will have a opportunity to work with master printmaker Matthew Ablitt this year, by enrolling in a six-week printmaking masterclass which starts on February 18, 2012. This exciting masterclass will run for six consecutive Saturdays from 9am-3pm, and will provide an invaluable opportunity for participants to develop new work in the medium of intaglio printmaking. The Course Content This course is an exciting opportunity for artists with some experience in printmaking to work with a master printer to develop further skills and insights into intaglio and multiple plate processes. Workshops will begin with basic techniques and move to more advanced intaglio techniques. Participants will have the freedom to develop their own motifs and themes using the techniques shown. Doug DuBois began photographing his family in 1984, prior to his father's near-fatal fall from a commuter train and his mother's subsequent breakdown and hospitalizations. While these events set a narrative backdrop to his work, the emotional freight is carried by the details as described by the artist: "the pallor of my mother's skin, the glare of my father's gaze and the tactile communion between my sister and nephew constitute a complex and resonant picture of family ties."
