Colors are fun in the winter


Ouuuuh, it's finally getting cold in Leipzig, there might even be snow. Since there are mostly "non-colors"* to be seen outside, I crave every bit of shiny color. Even yellow roadblocks are a welcome difference to the boredom of the rest of the world. What kind of colors do you crave currently?

*non-colors are "colors" like beige, camel and mudbrown and the uninspired tones of grey.

'Cities Connect': Hilary Latta's Cross-Cultural Art Project

Norman admiring his work, Pasay City, Manila, 2011 Certificate III Ceramics student Hilary Latta is undertaking a major community art project between Australia and the Phillipines. Hilary, who is know at  NADC for her high energy, is not only studying ceramics full-time this year, but also employing her art skills  to facilitate an art project  that connects both young and old artists from the two countries. Hilary has recently returned from a two week residency in the Phillipines, where she worked intensively with children from the local school and orphanage to develop artworks on the theme "My City". The children were encouraged to explore their relationship with their enviromnment, and delved into ideas such as sense of place and belonging. Hilary has conducted workshops with children in Sydney that explore the same theme, and is also inviting local schools to join in.
