Artists with some experience in printmaking will have a opportunity to work with master printmaker Matthew Ablitt this year, by enrolling in a six-week printmaking masterclass which starts on February 18, 2012. This exciting masterclass will run for six consecutive Saturdays from 9am-3pm, and will provide an invaluable opportunity for participants to develop new work in the medium of intaglio printmaking. The Course Content This course is an exciting opportunity for artists with some experience in printmaking to work with a master printer to develop further skills and insights into intaglio and multiple plate processes. Doug DuBois began photographing his family in 1984, prior to his father's near-fatal fall from a commuter train and his mother's subsequent breakdown and hospitalizations. While these events set a narrative backdrop to his work, the emotional freight is carried by the details as described by the artist: "the pallor of my mother's skin, the glare of my father's gaze and the tactile communion between my sister and nephew constitute a complex and resonant picture of family ties." 'Cities Connect': Hilary Latta's Cross-Cultural Art Project

Norman admiring his work, Pasay City, Manila, 2011 Certificate III Ceramics student Hilary Latta is undertaking a major community art project between Australia and the Phillipines. Hilary, who is know at  NADC for her high energy, is not only studying ceramics full-time this year, but also employing her art skills  to facilitate an art project  that connects both young and old artists from the two countries. Hilary has recently returned from a two week residency in the Phillipines, where she worked intensively with children from the local school and orphanage to develop artworks on the theme "My City". The children were encouraged to explore their relationship with their enviromnment, and delved into ideas such as sense of place and belonging. Hilary has conducted workshops with children in Sydney that explore the same theme, and is also inviting local schools to join in.
